We came away with a highly commended award in the Craftsman category. This was for our porcelain handcrafted sign for beauty retailer Molton Brown at its flagship Dublin store. Judges at the awards ceremony yesterday paid tribute to the high level of care taken throughout the project which required a sign being fashioned from a three-metre porcelain tile.
Molton Brown had a unique vision for signs and their initial enquiry was based solely on a mocked-up image of what was hoped for.
They wanted an exterior large-scale porcelain tile but didn’t know if this was realistic. We also provided a matching interior sign of the same exquisite quality.
A simpler approach – with standard fret-cut, push through lettering on an aluminium pan, wouldn’t have resulted in same stunning result.
It was certainly a challenging job but we are proud of the result and very grateful to the BSGA for their recognition. I’d like to thank all of the Redbox team for their hard work and commitment to exceptional quality which has made this award possible.
A Molton Brown spokesman added: “We’d like to congratulate Ian and everyone from Redbox on their success in the BSGA Awards. We knew we could count on them to deliver.
“Signs they produced and fitted were outstanding. Despite dealing with the unknown, thanks to our request that porcelain be used, the job was completed to a tight timescale in time for our grand opening at the busiest time of the year. We’re grateful that our goal of using beautiful quality porcelain was realised. ”
. . And here’s our apprentice Damian with our certificate:
